Chris Arslain - Contemporary Photographer
Statement
My work fits into the realm of topographical landscape and in that tradition I explore narratives about cultural interaction with the environment. The visual language of compressing three dimensions, and time, into a 2 dimensional object, to me, is at the forefront of importance. I can translate these layers of realities to create a unique remembrance. The end result forms a document that can change the context of true moments into an honest ethnographic history.
I have been photographing the human landscape for over 20 years. Trained in visual anthropology at USC, with brief stints in scripted television production and professional fashion photography, I am currently teaching fine art photography as an adjunct professor at Bellevue College in Washington.
